One model for 2 versions - Suspension and steering in working condition - Fidelity in detail - Slick tires - Dismountable bodywork Developed as heir to the 177, the Alfa Romeo 179 was used by the prestigious Italian brand for Formula 1 competitions from 1979 to 1982. It made its debut in the Italian Grand Prix in Monza in 1979 in front of the “home” public. It was equipped with an Alfa 1260 12-cylinder V-aspirated 2,991cc engine. Among the drivers who brought the 179 and, subsequently its evolution in 1981, the 179 C to the track, famous names of the Formula 1 of the time such as Mario Andretti, Andrea De Cesaris and Bruno Giacomelli who obtained a pole position in the Grand Prix in 1980 of the United States in Watkins Glen. In 1982, due to the continuous technical changes necessary to be competitive on the Formula 1 circuit, the 179 was replaced with the Alfa Romeo 182.
