This schooner was built in 1777 in Ragusa, Italy. Originally it had a Greek name, which has been lost to history. As a privateer, it raided Turkish trading ships. Unfortunately, it did not live up its pirate aspirations and was captured by the Turkish fleet during the Second Russo–Turkish War (1787-1791). Shortly after, the schooner was purchased by Russia and renamed Polotsk and served as a signal ship for the rest of her career.
Master Korabel of Russia does a masterful job of recreating this double-planked wooden ship model. All wooden parts, including the hull planking strips, are laser cut for easy assembly. The ship kit includes expertly cast anchors and gun barrels, photo-etched brass detailing, wooden blocks and deadeyes, brass belaying pins, nine spools of rigging line and sailcloth. Documentation consists of four large plan sheets, rigging table, English instructions and color photos of every stage of construction of an impressive wooden ship model.
