18th century Jolle boats were small and light craft that could navigate the ice-scoured channels leading into the Baltic fjords. Equipped with both sails and oars, they were agile and easily maneuverable. They were armed with the larger caliber guns normally found on gunboats. The design is attributed to the Swedish naval architect, Frederik Chapman.
Master Korabel of Russia recreates a wood model of the Jolle in exceptional detail and historic accuracy. All wooden parts are laser cut. The ship model kit includes photo-etched brass sheets, machine turned cannon barrel, three diameters of rigging line and sailcloth. The hull planking is pre-cut by lasers to exact shape, eliminating the need for cutting and sanding. A booklet of color photos supplements, clear plans and English instructions make building this wood ship model a pleasure for the experienced modeler.
