Wood Ship Model Kit by Corel
During the mid to late 1700's, small ships like the Scotland were used for transporting goods and passengers in the Baltic. Only 50-60 feet long, their impressive sails and pleasing soft hull lines distinguished them from other types of work boats. In a note dated 1775, the famous naval architect, F.H. Chapman referred to this type of ship as a "Baltic Vessel."
Corel's plank-on-bulkhead ship model kit features double planking in limewood and walnut. Keel, frames and false deck are laser-cut for easy assembly. Masting, blocks, deadeyes, grating are fine quality hardwoods. Transom ornamentation, two cannon with carriages, anchors, double barreled pump and other fittings are highly detailed cast metal. Cotton sailcloth, silk-screened flag, three diameters of rigging plus cast metal display stand and nameplate complete the kit. Clear plans and illustrated instruction manual make building easy.
