COREL CORSARO II WOOD SHIP MODEL KIT
CORSARO II
Wood Ship Model Kit by Corel
Designed in the USA by Stephans and Sparkman, Corsaro II was built in Genoa, Italy in 1960. A year later she was taken over by the Italian Naval Academy for use as a training ship. She has sailed most of the oceans of the world and participated in many international regattas, taking first place in the Honolulu-Kaual Regatta in 1961, the Torbay-Rotterdam Regatta in 1962, and the Lisbon-Bermuda Regatta in 1964.
Corel's kit, based on original plans for the sailboat, is a highly accurate reproduction. Double plank-on-bulkhead construction uses poplar, fir, boxwood and mahogany. All wooden parts are laser-cut to facilitate assembly. Fittings include lots of brass in the form of flying shrouds rail, stanchions, rings, eyebolts, mast heads, turnbuckles, winches, air intakes, cleats, windlass, helm, lights, davits, compass, anchor, bell and boom joints. The propeller, hawse-hole and other small parts are gilded cast metal; blocks and deadeyes are walnut. Seven large sheets of plans are accompanied by a step-by-step instruction book and detailed parts list. Display cradle and dacron sail material are also included.
