Model Shipways Phantom New York Pilot Boat 1:96 Scale
by Model Shipways Solid hull kit Includes copper hull strips & basswood launching ways!
Designed as a pilot schooner by Dennison Lawlor, the Phantom was built in 1868. On March 14, 1886, as New York Pilot Boat #11, she rescued 852 people from the sinking British liner S.S. Oregon off the coast of Long Island. Phantom was lost during the great blizzard of '88, going ashore at Sandy Hook, New Jersey with the total loss of the vessel, boatkeeper, cook and four seamen.
Model Shipways Phantom kit features a machine carved solid hull, so you won't have to do any shaping. You'll get wood parts for the cabin and companionways, ready-to-use wooden blocks and deadeyes, solid brass and finely cast metal fittings, three sizes of rigging line, plus genuine copper strips to cover the hull. Laser cut basswood launching ways complete the kit.
Full scale plans and clear, easy-to-follow instructions guide you through each phase of assembly of the Model Shipways Phantom model. (Wooden display base shown is not included)
